Study programs

The Faculty offers degree programs in: Physiotherapy, Nursing, Midwifery, Public Health, Emergency Medical Services, Electroradiology, Healthcare Management. The curriculum combines theoretical knowledge with professional training. More than 50% of classes are held in renowned clinical units, in small groups, ensuring personalized learning. Students benefit from modern teaching facilities, professional career counseling, and the opportunity to write theses in cooperation with potential employers. They are also encouraged to co-create innovative projects and engage in ongoing research activities.

The Faculty’s scientific profile covers health sciences, medical biology, epidemiology, disease prevention, and health promotion. Key research areas include:

  • determinants of fertility and ageing,
  • health promotion and education,
  • experimental gastroenterology,
  • prevention programs for cardiovascular diseases,
  • health psychology,
  • e-health technologies and challenges,
  • human resource management in nursing.

Among the Faculty’s scientific achievements are the development of the “Charter of Rights of Older People Participating in Clinical Trials” and the creation of an innovative therapeutic communication model with broad applications in medicine and health sciences. Researchers have also demonstrated that the average education level of a local community is a determinant of individual fertility, highlighted the role of riboflavin as an immunomodulator, and investigated the influence of circadian variability and physical activity on appetite regulation and secretion of adipokines and ghrelin in humans.

International collaboration

The Faculty actively participates in international research projects, including the EU 7th Framework Programme Eatwell and EU CHANCES – Consortium on Health and Ageing: Network of Cohorts in Europe and the United States. It collaborates with many leading research centers, such as Harvard University, University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, University of Kuopio, Technische Universität Berlin, and the University of Tromsø. Our academics are also members of prestigious expert bodies, including the European Labour Law Network, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and international environmental forums such as the Avosetta Group and the Acquis Group.
