Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, dr hab. Piotr Pierzchalski, prof. UJ

Professor Piotr Pierzchalski graduated from the Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences of the Jagiellonian University with a degree in molecular biology. In 1992, he began his doctoral studies, after which he worked, among others, at the Cardiovascular Research Institute of New York Medical College and in Germany. In 2008, he was appointed Assistant Professor at the Department of Medical Physiology of the Institute of Physiotherapy. Following the completion of his habilitation, he continued his academic career as an associate professor and subsequently as a full professor. Since 2020, he has served as Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Jagiellonian University Medical College. He is an active researcher with a substantial scientific output. His research specializes in molecular biology, with a particular focus on cellular studies.
Vice-Dean for Education, prof. dr hab. Agnieszka Gniadek

Professor Agnieszka Gniadek is an academic teacher, a registered nurse, and a graduate of the Jagiellonian University. From 2014 to 2024, she served as Director of the Institute of Nursing and Midwifery and as the Dean’s Representative for the Quality of Education at the Faculty of Health Sciences. Her research interests include environmental mycology, hospital-acquired infections, and the working conditions of nurses and midwives. She is the co-author of over 230 scientific publications and conference presentations. She collaborates closely with the Polish Nursing Association, where she serves as Chair of the Scientific Council and Editor-in-Chief of the journal Problemy Pielęgniarstwa (Nursing Problems). She is also a member of National Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council. Professor Gniadek teaches in the nursing and midwifery degree programs and supervises diploma and doctoral theses (11 completed PhD dissertations). She has reviewed over 30 doctoral and habilitation theses. She has been awarded the Stanisław Estreicher Scholarship and the Medal of the National Education Commission.
Vice-Dean for Student Affairs, dr hab. Christoph Sowada, prof. UJ

Professor Christoph Sowada is an academic teacher and a graduate of Justus Liebig University Giessen. From 1994, he worked at the Department of Public Finance at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Giessen, and later at the Department of Public Finance at the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences of the University of Potsdam. Since 2000, he has been affiliated with the Institute of Public Health of the Jagiellonian University. From 2016 to 2020, he served as Director of the Institute of Public Health and since 2020 he has held the position of Vice-Dean for Student Affairs at the Faculty of Health Sciences. Since 2019, he has been Head of the doctoral program, and since 2021 Chair of the Council of the Doctoral School of Medical and Health Sciences. He is the author of approximately 150 scientific publications and has participated in and led numerous international and national research projects. He is a member of the Scientific Association for Social Policy and the Polish Society of Public Health, as well as an expert for the Ministry of Health and the Senate Health Committee of the Republic of Poland. He has been awarded the Medal of the National Education Commission.
Vice-Dean for Research, dr hab. Marcin Waligóra, prof. UJ

Professor Marcin Waligóra serves as Vice-Dean for Research at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Jagiellonian University. He is Chair of the Discipline Council for Health Sciences at the Jagiellonian University and Acting Head of the Department of Bioethics and Health Psychology. His research focuses on research ethics in biomedicine. He led and co-led five research projects funded by the European Commission and the National Science Centre (NCN), carried out by the Research Ethics in Medicine Study Group (REMEDY). Professor Waligóra is a fellow of the Leadership Academy for Poland (2018/2019), the Fulbright Commission (Senior Award, 2017), the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (Scholarship for Outstanding Young Scientists, 2014/2015), the Nippon Foundation (2006), the Florentyna Kogutowska Fund (2005), and the International Academy of Philosophy (2005).
